For me, gentle parenting is non controlling and non coercive. Though that can be rather tricky since we're all raised with an instilled belief in control.I see parenting as a collaboration, an exchange, not a top down action. A parent can offer guidance where needed or requisted, but should mostly just seek to trust and respect the child.
I think gentle parenting is directly related to attachment parenting. Respecting the child, his needs and individuality, and treating him as you would like to be treated. All I can ever think when someone asks me to define things like this is Dr. Seuss: "A person's a person, no matter how small."
